Safety Reporting System
I built a system that digitises clinical safety reports and manages the process between the quality unit and staff.
The problem it solves
A safety report gets filed to the extent that filing it is easy. A report written on paper and handed over in person both put an obstacle in front of the person reporting and made it impossible to follow what happened next.
What it offers
- Clinical safety reports are filed through the system
- The process between the quality unit and staff is managed end to end
- The stage a report has reached can be followed from the record
Technical approach
Built with C# and .NET, the system was shaped around the hospital’s own quality management processes: report types, workflow steps and responsibilities all follow the quality unit’s own definitions. The principle was that the process should determine the software, not the other way round.
What changed
- Clinical safety reporting moved into digital form
- The reporting process between the quality unit and staff became managed end to end
